Adopted in 1995, the Lacombe/Blackfalds Area Outline Plan identified new country residential development areas between Lacombe and Blackfalds. Lacombe Lake Estates and Greystone Ranch are two examples of developments that were allowed under this Plan.

The County is currently in the process of updating this Plan. Work on the new Plan has taken longer than anticipated as issues have arisen concerning the impact that the increased traffic from further residential development would have on the county road system. The County anticipates the new Lacombe/Blackfalds Area Structure Plan to be competed in the summer of 2006.
