Highway 2A Urban Corridor The purpose of this page is to keep you informed of the Highway 2A Urban Corridor Joint Area Structure Plan (ASP) process but also to encourage you to provide us feedback on the project.

What Are We Doing?

The Lacombe/Blackfalds Urban Corridor Joint ASP is a planning initiative involving Lacombe County and the Towns of Blackfalds and Lacombe that is considering the area between the two Towns along the Highway 2A corridor, currently within the County.

Previous work done in the Lacombe/Blackfalds area has mainly investigated opportunities for more country residential acreages. The County and the two Towns believe that a more intense, urban-style development should be considered.

• future residential and non-residential land uses in the area;
• natural areas, parks and open spaces to be provided; and
• transportation and other servicing requirements.

Where Are We At?

An exciting opportunity exists for us to work together to develop a common vision describing how we wish to manage growth and development in the Highway 2A corridor between Lacombe and Blackfalds. Both Towns have been experiencing very strong growth and are already looking at expansion beyond their current boundaries.

An important aspect of the planning process for this area is the involvement of the public. Throughout the process, there will be opportunities for the general public to meet with representatives of the municipalities and our planners to share information and ask questions. We strongly encourage everyone to attend and participate in these opportunities for public engagement.
