Within Lacombe County, there are seven volunteer fire departments. Five of these departments are operated by the local municipality and Lacombe County, one is operated by the Town of Blackfalds, and the Mirror Fire Department is operated solely one is operated by Lacombe County. In addition, the Sylvan Lake Fire Department provides fire protection services for residents of Lacombe County located near the Town of Sylvan Lake, pursuant to a reciprocal agreement with Red Deer County and the Bashaw Fire Department services an area in the north-east part of the County as per an agreement between the Town of Bashaw and the Counties of Ponoka, Camrose and Lacombe.
All of the fire departments are staffed by volunteer firefighters, with more than 130 volunteers currently serving Lacombe County. A Regional Fire Chief, who is currently the only employee of the Lacombe Regional Fire Services Association, is responsible for providing technical advice to member Councils and departments on fire department policy and administration, fire fighter training, fire prevention, public safety, and workplace health and safety programs.
Lacombe Fire Department

- Equipment: Two pumpers, an aerial unit, a rapid response unit, a command post vehicle, a water tanker, a zodiac for water rescue, and a quad and trailer

Eckville Fire Department
- Jointly operated by the Town of Eckville and Lacombe County
- Equipment: Two pumpers, an emergency response vehicle and a water tanker
- 15 volunteer firefighters
Bentley Fire Department
- Jointly operated by the Town of Bentley and Lacombe County
- Equipment: Two pumpers, a water tanker and an equipment van
- 16 volunteer firefighters
Clive Fire Department
- Jointly operated by the Village of Clive and Lacombe County
- Equipment: One pumper, a rapid response unit and an equipment van
- 20 volunteer firefighters
Alix Fire Department
- Jointly operated by the Village of Alix and Lacombe County
- Equipment: Two pumpers, a rapid response unit, a firefighter transport vehicle and a medical first response unit for the purposes of providing emergency medical response (EMR) services within the Alix Fire District
- 29 volunteer firefighters
Mirror Fire Department
- Operated by Lacombe County
- Equipment: One pumper, a combo rescue/pumper unit and a water truck
- 18 volunteer firefighters
