Maintenance Department

This department has the mandate to maintain the gravel and paved local roads. There are seven district graders: oiling and helping out in the busy areas, gravel program (five trucks), sign installation and repair, asphalt patching and crack-filling, management of Lacombe Regional Solid Waste facilities and equipment. Winter maintenance would include sanding and plowing, brushing, bridge inspections and gravel stockpiling.

Construction Department

We attempt to build 15 miles of local road each year. The five (5) year plan is updated every second year. Gravel pit reclamation and development is also a part of their scope of work. The size of the projects and weather patterns has a large effect on this program. Supplemental program instigated in 2003 to accommodate smaller projects that require attention in a relatively short time span.

Shop

The maintenance of over 130 pieces of equipment is the responsibility of this group. Agriculture services, enforcement, and fire departments equipment are included in that total. Management of the Provincial bridge timber stockpile is handled by the parts department and situated in the gravel pit north of the new County shop.

Lacombe Regional Solid Waste Authority

Lacombe Regional Solid Waste Authority is an organization of the communities within Lacombe County boundaries to handle solid waste. Public Works also manage the day-to-day operations of the Authority.
