Lacombe, Alberta, December 6, 2012 – At approx 1:00 a.m. this morning ATCO Gas was able to restore natural gas service to 80 customers on the east side of Range Road 27-4. ATCO Gas personnel attended residents and farm operations to confirm ignition and heat requirements. At 3:10 a.m. the entire gas line feed was opened to the remaining 80 customers. At that time ATCO representatives stated that 50 Psi in lines would quickly fill the line.
ATCO staff monitored the sub-station location throughout the night to ensure there were no problems with the repairs. Road blocks which had been manned by Lacombe County staff since Wednesday evening were stood down at 3:15 a.m. this morning.
ATCO began the process of inspecting customers affected by the disruption as soon as service was restored. ATCO staff drove onto customer properties to observe smoke from chimneys and check gas meter activity. As a last resort, ATCO staff knocked on doors to assist customers.
