Following the priorities set out in the County’s 2013 – 2015 Strategic Plan and its long-range capital plans, Lacombe County Council has approved the Lacombe County 2013 interim operating budget, which is balanced at $41,845,820 of revenue and expenses. Council also approved the 2013 interim capital budget, which provides for revenues and expenditures of $21,630,060.

Lacombe, Alberta, December 6, 2012 – At approx 1:00 a.m. this morning ATCO Gas was able to restore natural gas service to 80 customers on the east side of Range Road 27-4. ATCO Gas personnel attended residents and farm operations to confirm ignition and heat requirements. At 3:10 a.m. the entire gas line feed was opened to the remaining 80 customers. At that time ATCO representatives stated that 50 Psi in lines would quickly fill the line.
ATCO staff monitored the sub-station location throughout the night to ensure there were no problems with the repairs. Road blocks which had been manned by Lacombe County staff since Wednesday evening were stood down at 3:15 a.m. this morning.
ATCO began the process of inspecting customers affected by the disruption as soon as service was restored. ATCO staff drove onto customer properties to observe smoke from chimneys and check gas meter activity. As a last resort, ATCO staff knocked on doors to assist customers.

Lacombe County is committed to strengthening the quality of life of its residents and fostering civic pride by providing financial support for community programs, events and activities. Through Policy RC(9) – “County Support of Community Programs, Events and Activities” the County will provide grant funding to community organizations and urban municipalities within Lacombe County to assist with the hosting of community programs, events and activities.
The application deadline is January 31, 2013; applicants will be advised by March 31, 2013 of the status of their application. A copy of the Policy RC(9) and a downloadable application form is available by clicking on the links below:

(Lacombe, Alberta) – Lacombe County Council re-elected its Reeve and Deputy Reeve for another one-year term at its Organizational Meeting on October 23rd.
Councillor Ken Wigmore will continue in the Reeve’s Chair. Following the Organizational Meeting Reeve Wigmore stated “I look forward to working with Council and staff over the next year and completing the projects that Council has initiated”. Reeve Wigmore further commented that “I feel honored to be elected again by my fellow Councillors as their Reeve, and I thank them for their continued support. I’m proud to work with such an excellent and dedicated group of Councillors. I look forward to our future challenges and will do my best to live up to the expectations of the residents of Lacombe County.”
Following Mr. Wigmore’s election and swearing in, Councillor Paula Law was re-elected by her fellow Councillors as Deputy Reeve for the next year.
“I am pleased to have the support of Council once again, and look forward to another year of service to our residents in an open, fair and responsible manner,” commented Ms. Law.

Final details of the weekend’s Culture and Harvest Festival activities have been released by Festival organizers. Paving has been completed on the Lacombe – Blackfalds portion of the Trans Canada Trail, according to Lacombe County Operations Manager Phil Lodermeier. The trail, which weaves its way south of Lacombe through the Lacombe Research Station, west along Lacombe Lake and down to the northern boundary of Blackfalds, will eventually connect to the Trans Canada Trail system linking Canadian communities through a system of regional networks..See the complete Media Release for photos and more information about the trail.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) has announced that the 2011 Central Alberta Disaster Recovery Program will be closed at Midnight, August 22, 2012. No applications postmarked or faxed after this date will be accepted by the Government of Alberta.

During snowy weather residents may experience occasional delays in local plowing - Lacombe County service levels depend on the duration and severity of the storm - but we try to have all 2,000 km ploughed in 3.5 to 4 days. The paved roads are higher priority and we usually have them ploughed and sanded within 12 hours.

The Alberta government has announced a disaster recovery program for the Central Alberta area in response to the severe overland flooding that resulted from rainstorms July 26 and 27, 2011.
The City of Lacombe and Lacombe County will be hosting a joint registration centre for the province’s Disaster Recovery Program on February 7, 2012 in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214-50 Avenue). The registration centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
