The Lacombe Regional Solid Waste Authority was established in 1987 and is responsible for the management of solid waste within the boundaries of Lacombe County. The Authority consists of the following member municipalities:
- Lacombe County
Lacombe County manages the day-to-day operations for the Authority through the Maintenance section of the Operations Department. This includes site and equipment maintenance, administration of the budget, equipment purchasing and sales, as well as the day-to-day operations, including staffing.
Prentiss Transfer Station & Landfill Site
From the east side of Lacombe, travel 6.5 km east to the Prentiss Road, then 4 km south on the Prentiss Road. The site is located on the east side of the road.
Open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with the exception of some statutory holidays).
The Prentiss Transfer Station and Landfill Site is the largest transfer station.
Eckville Transfer Station
Located just outside of the Town of Eckville. Travel north 5 km on Highway 766 to the Rainy Creek Road then go east 1 km.
Open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Closed on statutory holidays.
Bentley Transfer Station
Located just on the west side of the Town of Bentley on the south side of Highway 12.
Open Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Closed on statutory holidays.
Spruceville Transfer Station
Travel 6 km west of Lacombe on Highway 12 and then head north on the D&M road for 1 km.
Open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Closed on statutory holidays.
Alix/Mirror Transfer Station
Located on the Alix north Road approximately 6 km north of the Village of Alix, on the east side of the road.
Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed on statutory holidays. .
White Goods & Dry Rubble
Fridges, deep freezes, air conditioners, water coolers, hot water tanks, stoves, washers, dryers, and dishwashers are white goods and are ONLY accepted at the Prentiss Transfer Station. There is a fee for the disposal of these goods. Dry Rubble is accepted at the satellite sites (only quantities less than 499kg). All other dry rubble is to go to the Prentiss Transfer Station. There is also a charge/kg over 499kg.
