Lacombe County has recently completed a draft of the Sylvan Lake Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan. The draft plan has been developed in response to the increasing demand for recreational amenities and public access to the lake on the lands around Sylvan Lake. The policies outlined in the draft plan supports and augments the policies for amenity provision, trail development and reserve management outlined in the Sylvan Lake Area Structure Plan.

Registration Date announced for Central Alberta Disaster Recovery Program

The Alberta government has announced a disaster recovery program for the Central Alberta area in response to the severe overland flooding that resulted from rainstorms July 26 and 27, 2011.

The City of Lacombe and Lacombe County will be hosting a joint registration centre for the province’s Disaster Recovery Program on February 7, 2012 in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214-50 Avenue). The registration centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Council Adopts the Highway 2 West Area Structure Plan

Council gave second and third reading to Bylaw 1167/11 on January 26, 2012 to adopt the Highway 2 West Area Structure Plan (ASP).

The plan identifies lands west ot Highway 2 for light industrial commercial development in a phased approach as development opportunities will be limited to specific development nodes identified in the plan. The ASP outlines the policy in terms of the continued use of the lands for agricultural and other related opportunities; the requirements for development in terms of site design, landscaping and signage; the provision of servicing; and required road infrastructure.

Anderson Recreational Plan, Gull Lake

The Anderson Recreational Plan is a design initiative investigating the potential development of a formal recreational area on the 21 acre site located on the east side of Gull Lake adjacent to New Saratoga and Wilson’s Beach. AECOM’s Landscape Group is undertaking the conceptual design of the Anderson Recreational Plan for Lacombe County.

The plan is being prepared based on the feedback received from the public through a  questionnaire and the public meeting that was held on July 26, 2011. An Open House will be held on March 21, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Lacombe County Administration Office. Please see below for information on the plan, potential phasing and preliminary costs of the plan.

  • What would you like Lacombe County’s environment to look like in 20 years?
  • What is your stance on the environment – perhaps you care a lot, maybe you’re indifferent on the subject or instead you really don’t get what all the fuss is about. Regardless your opinion matters and we would appreciate a chance to talk to you about it.

  • What would you like Lacombe County’s environment to look like in 20 years?
  • What is your stance on the environment – perhaps you care a lot, maybe you’re indifferent on the subject or instead you really don’t get what all the fuss is about. Regardless your opinion matters and we would appreciate a chance to talk to you about it.

Lacombe County has recently completed a draft of the Sylvan Lake Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan. The draft plan has been developed in response to the increasing demand for recreational amenities and public access to the lake on the lands around Sylvan Lake. The policies outlined in the draft plan supports and augments the policies for amenity provision, trail development and reserve management outlined in the Sylvan Lake Area Structure Plan.

A Public Meeting to present the draft plan will be held at the Lacombe County Administration Office on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. Please see below for more information on the draft plan.

Registration Date announced for Central Alberta Disaster Recovery Program

The Alberta government has announced a disaster recovery program for the Central Alberta area in response to the severe overland flooding that resulted from rainstorms July 26 and 27, 2011.

The City of Lacombe and Lacombe County will be hosting a joint registration centre for the province’s Disaster Recovery Program on February 7, 2012 in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214-50 Avenue). The registration centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Council Adopts the Highway 2 West Area Structure Plan

Council gave second and third reading to Bylaw 1167/11 on January 26, 2012 to adopt the Highway 2 West Area Structure Plan (ASP).

The plan identifies lands west ot Highway 2 for light industrial commercial development in a phased approach as development opportunities will be limited to specific development nodes identified in the plan. The ASP outlines the policy in terms of the continued use of the lands for agricultural and other related opportunities; the requirements for development in terms of site design, landscaping and signage; the provision of servicing; and required road infrastructure.

Anderson Recreational Plan, Gull Lake

The Anderson Recreational Plan is a design initiative investigating the potential development of a formal recreational area on the 21 acre site located on the east side of Gull Lake adjacent to New Saratoga and Wilson’s Beach. AECOM’s Landscape Group is undertaking the conceptual design of the Anderson Recreational Plan for Lacombe County.

The plan is being prepared based on the feedback received from the public through a  questionnaire and the public meeting that was held on July 26, 2011. An Open House will be held on March 21, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Lacombe County Administration Office. Please see below for information on the plan, potential phasing and preliminary costs of the plan.
