Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI) is inviting input on a proposed Environment and Protected Areas (EPA) application to amend the water licence for the Blindman River pumping station. If amended, a pressurized filtration system that excludes Prussian carp and eggs would potentially be installed on the Blindman River pump station so water pumping could resume into Gull Lake whenever water levels allow for it.

Lacombe County allows golf carts on public roads as part of pilot program

Lacombe County is excited to be participating in a new provincial pilot project that will allow the use of golf carts on designated public roads. This initiative follows the signing of a Ministerial Order last month by The Honorable Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors, which created the Pilot Project (Golf Carts) Regulation under the Alberta Traffic Safety Act.

Lacombe County issued total fire ban

Lacombe County has upgraded the current Fire Restriction to a Fire Ban due to extremely dry, hot conditions. This ban will remain in effect until conditions improve.
Effective immediately, Lacombe County will issue no new fire permits or fireworks permits, and existing permits have already been canceled.
- No burning barrels are permitted under this ban.
- Gas/propane stoves, barbeques, and portable propane fire pits are permitted but must be always attended to.

Over the past three years, Lacombe County has shone a light on remarkable individuals and groups with the Environmental Stewardship Award, celebrating their dedication to ecological conservation on their properties within the county. This award, previously limited to individuals, is now open to community non-government organizations as well.
