Lacombe County is home to a diverse array of businesses that contribute significantly to the local economy and community well-being.  Recognizing and celebrating these businesses for their years of service and entrepreneurial spirit is vital in fostering a strong sense of community and encouraging continued growth and investment in our region.

Lacombe County would like to celebrate these businesses by offering the Lacombe County Business Recognition Program, designed to honor long-standing businesses on milestone anniversaries (10, 25, 50 years and beyond) and to celebrate new business start-ups with ribbon-cutting ceremonies if they agree.

This program's objectives are to recognize long-standing businesses and celebrate new business start-ups.

Business Recognition Application Form   Business Recognition Policy

Recognize Long-Standing Businesses

The program will honor businesses that have reached significant milestones, specifically at 10, 25, 50 and in increments beyond 50 years.  Recognition will include:

  • A formal presentation at the business with the corresponding division Councilor and others if available;
  • During this presentation, a Years of Service Award will be given
  • An update of this presentation will be added for County Council acknowledgement at the following Council meeting,
  • Public acknowledgment through social media, the Lacombe County website and featured in the County News.

Years of Service Awards:

  • 10 Years: Lacombe County Certificate of Recognition
  • 25 Years: Lacombe County Certificate of Recognition and Engraved Plaque
  • 50 Years: Lacombe County Certificate of Recognition and Customized Framed Aerial Photo.
  • Beyond: Lacombe County Certificate of Recognition and Customized Canvas with a photo collage of the Business History.
 Celebrating New Business Start-Ups

To encourage and support entrepreneurial ventures, the program will offer ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new businesses in Lacombe County, providing them with an opportunity to gain public recognition and community support from the outset.

This service will be optional for new businesses, allowing them to choose if and when they wish to hold such an event.  This event coverage will be featured in the County News and social media platforms and added to the Council report.

New Business Ribbon Cutting:

  • Ribbon-cutting event with the division Councilor and others if available.

The program officially launched on January 1, 2025. In its inaugural year, applications for the Years of Service Awards will be available online from January 1 to February 28.  In subsequent years applications will open annually from December 15 to February 15.  While applications for New Business Start-ups must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the ribbon-cutting event.
