Shop Supervisor-OPEN-Deadline January 27, 2025 |
The Opportunity Operations Department | Monday - Friday | 7:00am - 5:00pm Lacombe County is seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead the County’s skilled team responsible for maintaining and servicing the County’s equipment fleet. As a member of the Operations department senior management team, the Shop Supervisor provides overall leadership for Shop staff, oversees the management of the equipment fleet, and ensures the efficient operation of various buildings and yards.
Key Responsibilities • Oversee the servicing and maintenance of all County owned and leased equipment. • Maintain accurate reports of machine repairs, maintenance costs, and schedules. • Monitor and control expenditures within the approved departmental budget. • Evaluate operator performance to ensure proper care and mechanical condition of equipment. • Oversee and coordinate building maintenance, repairs and servicing on the County’s three shop buildings, corresponding outbuildings, and yards. • Lead, motivate and support the team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Qualifications • Proven ability to lead and supervise effectively, ensuring tasks are completed safely, on time, and within budget. • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other departments, external organizations and the public. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Journeyperson certification in Mechanics, Welding, or other post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. a diploma in fleet management) is preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered. • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required upon hire.

The Opportunity Agriculture Department | Full-Time Position | Monday-Friday | June-Oct: 7:00am-5:00pm| Nov-May: 8:00am-4:30pm Lacombe County is accepting applications for an Agriculture Lead Hand to oversee the day-to-day spraying and mowing operations within our Agriculture Department.
Key Responsibilities • Lead and direct daily spraying and mowing activities, managing staff and ensuring smooth, efficient operations. Provide initial and ongoing training to staff and monitor performance.
Key Qualifications • Possess and maintain a valid Pesticide Applicators Certificate (Industrial Class) issued by the Province of Alberta.

The Opportunity Corporate Services Department |Permanent Full-Time Position |Monday - Friday |8:30am - 4:30pm Lacombe County is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assessor to join our Assessment Services team. This position is crucial to ensuring accurate, fair, and equitable property assessments within the County. As an Assessor, you will play a key role in determining property values for taxation purposes, contributing to the financial health and sustainability of Lacombe County. You will work closely with the Manager of Assessment Services and collaborate with the assessment team to apply sound appraisal principles to all types of properties.
Key Responsibilities • Property Inspections & Assessments: Assist in the annual inspection of new and progressive properties, manage the re-inspection program, and ensure the maintenance of assessment and land files. • Property Data Collection: Review and analyze property sales, verifying transaction details and the physical details of the property at the time of sale. • Market Analysis: Contribute to the development and maintenance of market land rates and local market modifiers for both residential and non-residential properties. • Legislative Compliance: Interpret, understand, and apply relevant legislation to collect, analyze and prepare assessments. • Reporting & Documentation: Assist in preparing ASSET loads, Assessment Audit reports, and ensure the accuracy of all data entered into the system.
Key Qualifications • Education: A minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in property assessment or a related field, with coursework in appraisal or property valuation being preferred. • Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Municipal Government Act, Provincial Assessment Manuals, Ministerial Regulations, and Municipal Bylaws. • Technical Skills: Proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, SharePoint), CAMAlot, APEX, Marshall & Swift, Esri ArcGIS/Eagleview Pictometry, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Milenet/SPIN II, Pillar Nine/Matrix, and eSite. • Professional Development: Willingness and ability to work toward an accredited designation from the Alberta Assessors' Association or a similar certification. • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, capable of providing clear and accurate information regarding assessment and taxation, with a variety of stakeholders including the public, County staff, Council, and government entities in a professional, respectful manner. • Other Requirements: A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and an acceptable driver’s abstract are required upon hire.
