Fencing Labourer - OPEN - Deadline: July 14, 2025

The Opportunity Operations Department | Seasonal Full-Time Position (immediately- November/December)|
Monday - Friday | 7:00am - 5:30pm (10 hr day)

Lacombe County is seeking a skilled and reliable Fencing Labourer to join our Construction team, responsible for a variety of tasks including driving a tractor and other equipment, removal of all fencing and building obstructions and assisting with new culvert and erosion control installations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our Construction crew and ensuring the successful completion of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with other fencing team members, assist in tearing out existing fences, removing materials and preparing the site for new installations. After the construction project is complete, install new fences.
• Operate a tractor to transport materials and pound post holes.
• Utilize impact tools and equipment to secure fencing components and ensure structural integrity.
• Assist in the installation of culverts.
• Participate in workplace safety initiatives, follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. Report to work fit for duty.

Key Qualifications

• Preference given to candidates who have previous fencing experience and/or who have worked as part of a construction crew.
• Safety conscious with a demonstrated high level of attentiveness to your own personal safety as well as that of your co-workers on a construction site around heavy equipment.
• Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions and perform strenuous physical labour, including heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs. Enjoy working outdoors and able to perform duties in adverse weather conditions.
• Must have a proven ability to interact with others in a calm, courteous and respectful manner.
• Possess and able to maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license (current abstract required upon hire).

• Home every night. Work hours are from 7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday - Friday.

• Annual vacation pay that increases with each year of employment, 5.2% stat pay, and more.

The wage for this position starts at $24.46/hr (includes stat and vacation pay) for the first 8hrs and $33.00/hr for overtime hours. Normal working hours are 10 hrs/day (8hrs regular, 2hrs OT) from 7am-5:30pm.

Vacation Time
