Third Reading to Bylaw 1389/23 was given April 13, 2023 by Lacombe County Council to update the Sylvan Lake Area Structure Plan.
Sylvan Lake Area Structure Plan (ASP)
During development inquiries in the past year, a few inconsistencies in the Plan were noted. Further, we have heard concerns with the mandated requirement for higher density units in the forms of townhomes and apartments.
The purpose of this update is to ensure the planning policies of the Plan are consistent and in line with the community's vision for the Plan Area. The updates do not change the overall intent of the plan:
- Include cabin and RV in the dwelling unit definition, to ensure consistency with the remainder of the document.
- Amend the 'Multi-unit Residential, Higher Density Nodes' sections to consider multi-unit housing within a 600 metre radius of the possible and existing public access sites, rather than mandate it.
