Reserves in New Subdivisions
As new residential, recreational, commercial, and industrial subdivisions are proposed, the County has the opportunity to acquire new reserve lands, money-in-lieu of land dedication, or a combination of land and money. In general, the County will take reserve land to provide public access to lakes and rivers, protect environmentally sensitive features, provide space for recreational amenities, and to restrict development in hazard-prone areas. The policies regarding when and how the County will take reserve land in a new subdivision can be found in Section 4.6 of the County's Municipal Development Plan.
A Special Use of Reserves Permit (SURP) will need to be completed and submitted to the County for authorization to proceed with requested activities.
