Lacombe County is and will always be a predominantly rural community with large tracts of agricultural and natural lands. However, as the County sees development in its designated residential, commercial, and industrial areas, improved stormwater management is required to mitigate flood hazard and ensure stormwater runoff does not negatively impact the surrounding ecosystem.
Lacombe County's planning documents provide a strong framework to ensure that stormwater management infrastructure and design is held to a high standard. These policies are based on the following documents:
- Lacombe County's Standards for Stormwater Management Facilities
- Backgrounder – Whelp Creek Water Diversion
- Wolf Whelp Master Drainage Plan
- Blackfalds Northwest Area Master Stormwater Management Plan
