 Sun Valley Farms

 Ellis Nature Center- AMP Grazing

Ellis Nature Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation, education & sustainable agriculture. We promote environmental education and wildlife conservation, monitor and conduct research on mountain bluebirds, tree swallows and purple martins, and manage over 480 acres of agricultural land. The Visitor Centre, original farmhouse, demonstration gardens and wetlands are set aside for wildlife and public enjoyment.

Learn more at https://ellisnaturecentre.ca/.

Lunch at NOVA Chemicals Community Nature Trail

The land of the NOVA Chemicals Community Nature Trail has never been tilled for agricultural use and vegetation includes native grasses, willow, bush, poplar and aspen stands. The area also supports wetlands and has natural drainage channels to Jones Creek. The wetlands and vegetation offer a great habitat for birds and other wildlife. The new stormwater management system built as part of NOVA Chemicals’ rail yard expansion to the west of this area enhances the wetland / habitat capability.

The trail system provides an excellent opportunity for people to connect with nature and learn about local wildlife and plants — as well as the area’s history.

 Pleasant Valley Mills
Pleasant Valley offers consumers and manufacturers healthy, cold-pressed, non-GMO canola oil for everyday cooking use. When it comes to delivering the highest quality and most natural product possible, simple processes are key, and we work to be transparent with ours. You will always know where our ingredients come from and how we make our products, so that you can thrive and live your best life.
 Zuidhof Farms
Zuidhof Feeders sprawls over the rise of a hill in the rolling parkland of central Alberta. Its towering feed mill can be seen for miles. Pens of feeder cattle are squared off over the hillside. Hundreds of bales are stacked in rows nearby. Adjacent to the farm site, cattle dot the landscape. The Zuidhofs run a 6,000 head feedlot, a 500 head cow-calf operation and a 3,500 acre grain farm. They grow barley for silage as well as for cattle feed, but most of their feed barley is purchased. They plant canola, peas, and wheat for cash crops.
