There are many benefits of municipal government employment! Lacombe County is an employer of choice where employees have the chance to make a difference, work in a supportive and rewarding environment, and enjoy a multitude of benefits.
HEALTH & SAFETY
At Lacombe County, we take great pride in our strong Health & Safety program. We hold a Certificate of Recognition with the Partnership in Injury Reduction Program sponsored through Alberta Human Services, WCB and the Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association. Every employee is required to have a health and safety orientation at the beginning of their employment. Continued participation opportunities and training are offered for all employees to enhance their health and safety awareness and knowledge.
Lacombe County has a very comprehensive group benefits plan. Benefit costs are a combination of cost-shared and employee paid. Once eligibility requirements are met, benefits offered include:
- Life Insurance
- Accident & Serious Illness
- Dependent Life Insurance
- Long Term Disability
- Health Insurance (prescription drugs, hospital expenses, paramedical services, emergency out of province expenses, etc.)
- Dental Care
- Employee Assistance Program
HEALTH & WELLNESS SPENDING ACCOUNTS
The Health & Wellness Spending Accounts function much like a bank account. Employees can use their Health Spending Account to pay for medical and dental expenses that are not covered by the benefit plan (i.e. prescription glasses, heart monitoring devices). The Wellness Spending Account can be used to pay for wellness purchases such as sport membership league fees and fitness center memberships.
DEFINED PENSION PLAN
Eligible employees participate in the defined pension plan: Local Authorities Pension Plan. The defined pension plan provides the member with a set (defined) pension for their lifetime once the member retires.
We can help employees save for the future through automatic deductions towards a group Registered Retirement Savings Plan or a group Tax Free Savings Account.
We continually support and invest in our employees to ensure they have the necessary training, knowledge, skills and abilities to perform high-quality work.
New employees receive three (3) weeks of paid vacation after their first year on the job. This increases by one (1) day for each year of service, to a maximum of five (5) weeks after their tenth year on the job, and then starts increasing again after twenty-five (25) years of service.
We are always looking for creative and innovative individuals who share our commitment of meeting the needs of our residents with our key principles in mind.
