Lacombe, Alberta, June 23, 2014 – Lacombe County is pleased to release the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), an internally focused guiding document that helps provide direction to Lacombe County staff and councillors in regards to environmental management. This is a document that outlines the specific plan or framework on how Lacombe County will carry out environmental stewardship.
The Lacombe County EMP is internally focused. This means that all targets, goals and expectations stated in the Plan are intended to govern County operations, not the general public. However, the report will provide the residents of Lacombe County an opportunity to become more familiar with environmental programming, and it will clearly identify the priorities and actions of the County.
In addition, the environmental steering committee has chosen its two priority areas to begin focusing on for the first year of implementation. These two areas are energy consumption and efficient use of water. They represent a short and long term goal for internal county operations.
