Strychnine Stewardship Training and product timelines for producers

Producers planning to use strychnine will be required to complete FREE, online Strychnine Stewardship Training prior to purchasing or applying the product.

The approved online Strychnine Stewardship Training for Producers provides essential information on:

  • Safe handling and application
  • Legal requirements and responsibilities
  • Environmental and wildlife protection

The course is self‑paced and must be completed before strychnine can be purchased.  Strychnine may only be purchased by those who have completed the Strychnine Stewardship Training for Producers program.

Strychnine Availability

Strychnine will be available to producers under the following conditions:

  • Strychnine is anticipated to be available in early June
  • Limited quantities available
  • Sold by appointment only
  • Producers must contact the Agricultural Services Department (403-782-8959) to inquire about availability and to arrange purchase

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to limited supply, a maximum of one (1) case per producer will be sold.

Producers are encouraged to complete the required training as early as possible to avoid delays once the product becomes available.
