UPDATE: Strychnine for Emergency Use available in late June
Lacombe County is currently working with regulatory partners to determine how the program will be delivered locally, including access and administration. Lacombe County will dispense a limited quantity of strychnine once it becomes available.
At this time:
- Local program details are being finalized.
- Producers wishing to participate in the 2% liquid strychnine program can contact the Agriculture Services department at 403-782-8959.
- Producers will be added to a contact list and will be contacted once strychnine is available for purchase.
MANDATORY TRAINING
All producers who intend to purchase or use strychnine must complete the approved Strychnine Stewardship Training BEFORE purchasing the product. Lacombe County is expecting to receive strychnine in late June.
The course is delivered online and MUST be completed prior to product purchase. The training provides essential instruction on:
- Proper handling and application
- Regulatory compliance
- Environmental safety
