Announcing the 2025 Farm Family of the Year | Theo and Claudine Bruning of Hillside Poultry Farm

Lacombe County is honoured to recognize Theo and Claudine Bruning of Hillside Poultry Farm as the 2025 Farm Family of the Year.

At the heart of agriculture is family — and the Brunings are a shining example of that. Their story is one of hard work, innovation, and deep community roots.

After coming to Canada from Holland, Theo and Claudine built their dream from the ground up — starting with a bare quarter of land and growing it into a thriving poultry and grain operation east of Lacombe. Today, Hillside Poultry Farm raises 52,000 broiler chickens and farms more than 3,000 acres in partnership with Theo’s brother, Jack.

Lacombe County congratulates the Bruning family for their leadership in agriculture, their commitment to sustainability, and the example they set for future generations.
