Have Your Say: Gopher Infestation Survey

Lacombe County is asking producers to share their experiences with gopher (Richardson’s Ground Squirrel) infestations on agricultural land.

This survey isn’t a scientific study, but rather a way to gather an overall picture of the impact gophers are having on farmland. The results will be compiled into a summary for the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, with the goal of encouraging timely action on this issue.

The Agricultural Service Board of Alberta, alongside the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, has been raising concerns at both the provincial and federal levels following the loss of 2% Strychnine as a control option.
