Lacombe County presented with Friends of Education Award for social worker program support

This fall, Lacombe County was honoured to receive the Friends of Education Award for Zone 4 following our nomination by Wolf Creek Public Schools. This prestigious award celebrates individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to education and demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting students and schools in Alberta.

Lacombe County was recognized for its positive and collaborative relationship with the education community. Our annual contribution of $150,000 to fund social workers within Wolf Creek School Division ensures students have access to critical mental health and emotional support. This funding empowers students to thrive by building resilience and fostering meaningful relationships.

We were first acknowledged during the Zone 4 meeting in October and formally recognized during the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) Fall General Meeting on November 17, alongside other award recipients from across the province.

At Lacombe County, we believe in investing in the success and well-being of our youth. It’s truly an honour to see this commitment recognized at the provincial level by ASBA. We extend our sincere thanks to our partners at Wolf Creek Public Schools for this nomination. Additionally, we are proud to support the School Resource Officer (SRO) program in rural schools across Lacombe County, which plays a vital role in maintaining safe and supportive learning environments.
