Medicine River Watershed Society honoured with 2025 Environmental Stewardship Award
Lacombe County recognized the Medicine River Watershed Society as the recipient of the 2025 Environmental Stewardship Award during the December 11, 2025 Council Meeting. This annual award recognizes individuals or organizations within Lacombe County that demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship.
About the Award
The Environmental Stewardship Award celebrates local efforts that protect and enhance our environment. It aligns with Policy AD(33) Environmental Community Engagement, highlighting Lacombe County’s commitment to helping residents understand environmental sustainability and encouraging decisions that respect natural systems, communities, and future generations.
The winner receives a one-time cash prize of $1,500, funded through the Environmental Services operating budget.
2025 Winner: Medicine River Watershed Society
This year, only one nomination was received, and the committee unanimously selected the Medicine River Watershed Society for its outstanding work in preserving and improving the health of the Medicine River watershed.
The Society’s mission is to increase awareness of water quality, riparian health, and the natural beauty of the Medicine River. Their initiatives include:
