Septic Sense Workshop: Learn How to Care for Your Septic System

Did you know that the average person puts 340 liters of sewage through their septic system every day? For a family of four, that adds up to an incredible 1,360 liters daily—almost half a million liters per year!

As a rural property owner, maintaining your septic system is crucial for protecting your investment and the natural environment around you. That’s why Lacombe County and Ponoka County are hosting a Septic Sense Workshop, with expert guidance from the Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association (AOWMA) and materials developed by Land Stewardship Centre (LSC).

This workshop will teach you everything you need to know to properly manage and maintain your septic system, including:

  • What a septic system is and how it works
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Design and installation basics
  • Proper usage tips
  • Maintenance strategies
  • Troubleshooting common issues
