An Authorized Assistant Certificate or Ag/Industrial Pesticide Applicator Certificate, or the ability to obtain upon request, is required.
• Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License (current abstract required upon hire). Experience with GIS Software an asset.

The Opportunity Operations Department |Seasonal Full-Time Position (4-5 months-end of April to end of August or September) |Sunday-Thursday (7am-5pm) OR Tuesday-Saturday (9am-7pm)

Do you enjoy working outdoors? Lacombe County is accepting applications for 2 full-time seasonal Sandy Point Beach General Labourers to maintain the beach area at Sandy Point (on the south western shores of Gull Lake). One position runs 4 months (approx. April 27, 2026 to August 28, 2026). The second position runs 5 months (approx. April 27, 2026 to September 30, 2026).

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the beach for cleanliness: clean and restock the washroom facilities, empty the garbage receptacles, etc.
• Operate basic hand and power tools including hand mowers, power mowers, tractor mowers, heavy equipment (Tool Cat), etc.
• Perform a variety of landscaping and clean-up activities as directed.

The Opportunity  Community Services Department |Seasonal (Approx mid-June to mid-October) |Monday - Friday | 7:00am - 5:00pm

Lacombe County is seeking a safety-conscious and dependable individual to join our team as a Mower Operator. The Mower Operator will be responsible for mowing the grass and weeds on municipal road allowances, as well as public and private lands within the County. This role requires the ability to operate mowing equipment effectively and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. The approximate term date for this 4 month position is mid-June to mid-October (weather dependent).

Key Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Agricultural Field Operations Lead, operate a mower unit consisting of an all wheel drive tractor with a side arm and a deck mower in compliance with all safety regulations, ensuring the safety of yourself and others.
• Perform safety inspections, routine equipment maintenance and assist with servicing and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of daily mowing activities, equipment usage, and any incidents.

Key Qualifications

• Able to operate a tractor with a mower and perform light maintenance/servicing as required. Previous mowing experience is an asset.
• Must be able to perform a physically demanding position involving repetitive movement, frequent bending, kneeling, walking on slippery and uneven surfaces, and noise. The Opportunity   Community Services Department | Seasonal Full-Time Position (2 month July - August) |Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 4:30pm

Lacombe County has a great summer opportunity for a responsible and motivated individual for the River Weed Inspector position. The successful candidate will canoe the Blindman, Medicine, and Red Deer rivers, handpicking prohibited noxious and noxious weeds along sensitive areas near the riverbanks. While working outdoors in a scenic river environment, this position is integral to environmental management of these river systems within the County. The approximate term date for this 2 month position is July 6 to August 28, 2026 (40hrs/week)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a good knowledge and identification of prohibited noxious and noxious weeds.
• Develop strong boat safety and paddling skills (be able to identify potential hazards found on the river).
• Perform weed management by handpicking weeds, collecting them in a bag in the canoe and dropping them off at the designated locations.
• Occasionally, operate a backpack sprayer for herbicide application.
• Perform responsibilities in a safe and effective manner. Must be able to follow safe work practices and abide by all safety polices, rules and regulations.

Key Qualifications 

• An enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality.

Lacombe County is seeking a skilled and reliable Fencing Labourer to join our Construction team, responsible for a variety of tasks including driving a tractor and other equipment, removal of all fencing and building obstructions and assisting with new culvert and erosion control installations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our Construction crew and ensuring the successful completion of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with other fencing team members, assist in tearing out existing fences, removing materials and preparing the site for new installations. After the construction project is complete, install new fences.
• Operate a tractor to transport materials and pound post holes.
• Utilize impact tools and equipment to secure fencing components and ensure structural integrity.
• Assist in the installation of culverts.

The Opportunity Operations Department | Permanent Full-Time Position | Monday - Friday (8 hour day)

The Project Manager is a key member of the Operations team and is responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing and delivering projects related to municipal infrastructure, services, and rural development. This role supports Operations-led capital, maintenance, and construction initiatives across the County and ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within approved budgets.

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Project Manager provides technical expertise and project leadership throughout all phases of project delivery. The role is responsible for analyzing technical drawings, coordinating internal and external resources, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring the successful execution of projects in accordance with County standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Delivery

• Develop, prepare and review tenders, technical drawings, specifications and other related documentation for operations, capital, and maintenance projects including bridge design and replacement, paving projects, chip sealing, and line painting programs.
• Review plans, drawings and documents submitted by developers and provide recommendations in accordance with Lacombe County standards. Conduct site inspections and prepare progress reports.
• Update and maintain Operations Management Plans, including capital equipment replacement, long-range construction schedule, bridge management, pavement management, salt management, plans, etc.
• Conduct inspections on bridge structures within the County and maintain (or be willing to obtain) the Class B Bridge Inspector certification.

Leadership & Coordination

• Plan, lead, and coordinate the effective delivery of operational projects across the County.
• Lead and support project teams, including consultants, contractors, and internal staff, throughout all project phases, from planning and design through construction and close out.
• Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

Key Qualifications

Technical

• A post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (CET) is preferred, or a related discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered is an asset.
• Experience working within a municipal government or public-sector environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of municipal infrastructure, operations and maintenance practices is an asset.
• Class B Bridge Inspector certification, or the ability and willingness to obtain.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical plans, specifications and drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD and GIS related applications.

Leadership
