Planning Documents

There are five types of planning documents in Lacombe County.

Planning Policies

Section 638.2 of the Municipal Government Act requires municipalities to publish a list of policies considered in making planning decisions. The policies outlined below guide the decisions and operations of Lacombe County’s Planning Services.

AD(19) Compliance Reports

Compliance Reports advising whether existing buildings comply with the County's Land Use Bylaw will be issued by the County upon request.

AD(20) Subdivision and Road Naming

The criteria that will be used, and the steps involved in the naming of a subdivision or road.

AD(39) Development Incentive Grant Program

A grant to attract and encourage further economic growth and increase employment opportunities in the Hamlet of Mirror.

AD(40) Public Engagement Policy

An outline of the public engagement approaches Lacombe County will use, and the circumstances in which the County will engage municipal stakeholders.

AD(46) Water Restriction in Aspelund Industrial and QEII Business Parks

A regulatory framework for municipal water utility customers within the Aspelund Industrial and QEII West Lacombe (Wildrose) Business Parks.

OP(1) Road Designations and Standards

A classification system and standards for the orderly and effective management of Lacombe County roadways.

OP(2) Road Construction Programs

A road construction program that considers long-term transportation needs and smaller emergent projects.

OP(29) Approaches

An outline of the County’s discretion, and standards of approval for approaches located within the County.

OP(39) Standards Manual

A guide governing the design parameters, and preparation and submission of plans to ensure the orderly development of subdivisions and municipal services in Lacombe County.

OP(45) New Paved Road Criteria

A plan to identify roads to be considered for hard surfacing and/or pavement.

OP(47) Upgrading of Roads to Service Residential Development

An outline of the County’s discretion to require the upgrading of roads to accommodate residential development.

OP(6) Dust Control

The regulations of Lacombe County’s dust treatment program to mitigate the impact of dust in front of residences.

SW(3) Water and Wastewater Services

The requirement for communal water and wastewater services as a condition of development in lakeshore and country residential subdivisions.
