Lacombe Regional Airport Master Plan

About the Airport

Lacombe Regional Airport was originally developed in the 1960s. The airport lands are owned by the City of Lacombe and operated by the Lacombe Flying Club. The City, Lacombe County, and Lacombe Flying Club jointly participate in an Airport Steering Committee to guide the operation and advancement of the airport and financially contribute to its development, with 50% of capital costs covered by the City, 25% by the County, and 25% by the Lacombe Flying Club.

In 2016, a Lacombe Municipal Airport Feasibility Study was completed.  It assessed the airport's operations, governance, and economic impact and provided prioritized recommendations to focus on long-term viability and expanded economic development. The preparation of an Airport Master Plan was recommended as a priority initiative to identify lands to be available for commercial development and to guide the overall future of the airport.
