Municipal Development Plan Updates (Bylaw 1429/25)
The Municipal Development Plan is our community’s vision for the future. It provides the high-level blueprint of where and how development can occur in Lacombe County.
Details of the Municipal Development Plan updates include:
Annual Review Amendments
- Reword all ‘residence’ references to ‘dwelling’. The updated wording does not change the existing regulations, but rather provides for consistency in how it reads in both the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.
- Include a ‘dwelling’ definition in the Glossary of Terms. The definition is the same as the existing definition in the Land Use Bylaw.
Assorted Housekeeping Amendments
Update ‘Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors’ name
Land Use Bylaw Updates (Bylaw 1430/25)
The Land Use Bylaw is the direct product and implementation tool of the Municipal Development Plan. It places all land within Lacombe County into land use districts, and identifies what uses can be considered in each given district.
Details of the Land Use Bylaw updates include:
Public Submissions
- Increase accessory building space from 150 sq ft to 240 sq ft in the Recreational Vehicle ‘R-RVR’ District.
Annual Review Amendments
- Reword all ‘residence’ references to ‘dwelling’. The updated wording does not change the existing regulations, but rather provides for consistency in how it reads in both the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.
Assorted Housekeeping Amendments
- Update the definition and section 6.23 regarding signs. The updates will provide more user-friendly wording and describe the regulations more clearly.
- Include the engineering requirements for Country Residential ‘R-CR’ District tarp structures in section 6.2. This wording is duplicated from the existing definition for tarp structures.
- Reword the storage of recreational vehicles + use for visitors in all residential districts. The updated wording does not change the existing regulations, but rather provides for consistency in how it reads across all residential districts.
- Update ‘Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors’ name
