With more than 400 kilometers of paved roads and 1,700 kilometers of gravel roads within Lacombe County, there is a significant investment in highway infrastructure. As the designated ‘Highway Authority', Lacombe County assumes responsibility for the maintenance and preservation of these roadways. Operations staff and Community Peace Officers work with external organizations to ensure our roadways are protected and maintained. Commercial traffic is managed and routed through the issuance of permits and road use agreements to avoid sensitive areas.
Operations staff monitor roadways for damage and unsafe road conditions affecting motorists. When roadways are susceptible to damage, road bans or even road closures may be used to prevent further damage and to remediate unsafe situations.
Road Bans
Lacombe County implements road bans depending on weather conditions. The purpose of the road ban is to protect the public and their vehicles from unsafe driving conditions. The potential for damage and the current condition of the road determines the percentage of the ban.
Some commercial or industrial hauling within Lacombe County requires a road use agreement.
Please contact Roadata Services at 1.888.444.9288 or htpp://www.roadata.com/ for permits for overweight and over dimensional vehicles.
